Chris was born in 1957 in Philadelphia, U.S.A. He was raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, one of six children, and son and grandson of missionaries to Africa. He studied music at Wheaton College in Illinois where he met Laura. They married in 1981 and have four children. In 1987 they moved to Belgium where they now live.
Chris started playing the guitar at the age of twelve and began writing songs when he was sixteen. In 1982 he toured with Phil Keaggy and developed a friendship. Soon after that, he recorded his first CD entitled Gift of Gladness featuring Phil Keaggy on electric guitar.
In 1987 he was the first to sign a writer’s contract with Integrity’s Hosanna! Music who recorded songs of his such as I Was Made To Praise You, Song For the Nations and More Than Anything. He also was worship leader on Hosanna’s worship CD Shout From the Mountain which features several of his songs not available elsewhere.
In 1995 Chris and Laura started a worship ministry to the French-speaking world called Exo and have since recorded seven worship CDs in French. Exo has become a household name in French worship music. Chris and Laura have travelled to and ministered in the following places: Western Europe, French-speaking Africa, Quebec, Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion, French Polynesia, New Caledonia and the French Carribean. Chris has recorded eleven albums in English.
